Giving Thanks

I think God leads us to places we would never expect to go on our own.

I remember my accounting teacher in college asking the class how many of us planned on owning our own business. Trust me, I was NOT one of the people who raised their hand. I thought, NO WAY. This is just another class I have to get through so I can graduate. I never saw myself being a photographer and I certainly never saw myself owning a business.

Ever since I picked up my camera 2 years ago, I have noticed a strong connection between myself and the people I am photographing. There is something really powerful about being behind the lens. When I'm behind the camera, I see people in a totally different light. I see beauty and love all around me.

As I look back over 2013, I am honored to have been able to photograph weddings, engagements, newborns, toddlers, and families. I have had the privilege to get to know some amazing people through this journey and I feel like God is telling me I'm not done yet! There is so much more to capture, to give, and to experience. This is my passion, my form of expression, and I am starting to see God revealing himself to me through these photographs. And I am ready to go where He is leading me. Although the unknown is scary and intimidating, I am excited and hopeful for 2014.

A great friend of mine shared the following with me, and I think it applies well to my life right now.

"17 Whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God the Father." - Colossians 3:17

And that is my goal going into the new yearโ€ฆeverything else should fall into place.

All The Best,
